Gua Sha uses flat or curved handheld tools to glide across areas of the neck, shoulders and upper back.It is most commonly used to break up scar tissue associated with trauma (i.e. surgical incision sites, scarring as a result of car accidents, and myofascial ‘knots’ due to overuse). Gua sha may also be used to relieve flu-like symptoms such as cough, sore throat, chills and fever (*not used in our clinical practice).
